All that excitement from winning the Super Bowl last year slowly died down as Philadelphia Eagles fans started to notice that this team was very different from the one that won it all.

Everyone could tell from the struggles on offense in the first half of the year, with the defense having no pass rush, that the dreams of a repeat were suffering a painful death. While the defense improved at the right time, the offense did not, resulting in an 11-6 finish and an early postseason exit in the NFC Wild Card against the San Francisco 49ers.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman spoke with the media at the team's end-of-year press conference alongside head coach Nick Sirianni. Roseman got honest about the mindset and overall thoughts of the 2025 season.

“If confetti isn’t falling on our head, it’s not good enough. When we fall short, I look at myself. I look to improve.”

Super Bowl repeat dream is dead, but Eagles aren't done for

This offseason feels different from any the Eagles have had in a while. Sure, the 2024 offseason before the Super Bowl had some urgency, leading to big-money moves like signing Saquon Barkley and bringing in Bryce Huff. For this offseason, the urgency is there, but different.

The Eagles have some big decisions ahead as guys like Lane Johnson and Brandon Graham decide their futures. Philly must also find the next voice for the offense after Kevin Patullo was removed as offensive coordinator.

One storyline that will command the most attention is what the team will do with wide receiver A.J. Brown. With the latest report that he asked to be traded multiple times this past season, will the Eagles grant his wish and move him off the team?

There is another interesting storyline with Jalen Hurts as the team's quarterback of the future. Reports surfaced that players are frustrated that Hurts doesn't receive criticism from the Eagles brass, which is causing friction in the locker room.

It's clear that there is a chink in the armor, and something has to get fixed if the Eagles want to get back on track. Otherwise, the Super Bowl for Philly might close and never reopen.
