The Philadelphia Eagles needed a wide receiver to replace A.J. Brown, who is one foot out the door in a trade that will potentially be done after June 1, so general manager Howie Roseman did what he does best and got his guy.
Roseman made a stellar trade to move up to pick 20, which the Dallas Cowboys owned, to select USC wide receiver Makai Lemon in the 2026 NFL Draft. FanSided NFL Draft expert Marcus Mosher shared what the Eagles will be getting with Lemon.
"Lemon has the prototype build for an NFL slot receiver (5-11, 192 pounds). While he'll never be the biggest or the fastest receiver, all he does is get open and make plays after the catch. He's incredibly reliable and durable, which is a must for that position. He projects a high-volume slot receiver that a team can run their entire offense through at the next level. The hope is that his lack of size and elite athleticism won't hinder him, but it's hard not to compare him to Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has had a ton of success in Detroit despite similar concerns."
Eagles get a great wide receiver in Makai Lemon
This will set up the Eagles' offense for the future, with Lemon now able to help the passing game. DeVonta Smith is expected to be the number one wide receiver in the offense, with Lemon hopefully being able to replace Brown.
The Eagles will also have Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Elijah Moore, and Dontayvion Wicks at wide receiver, so the position is secure for the next year or two. Lemon will compete with him, but should line up in the slot and be able to handle things in the new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's scheme.

Philly's offense continues to look better for the future as Lemon gives them the firepower they needed for 2026.
