One of the biggest lessons Howie Roseman learned as Andy Reid's understudy was it's important to build your team from the trenches. It's a business model the Philadelphia Eagles always utilized under Big Red, one thy've continued ever since Howie has been charged with crafting Philly's roster.
Andy Reid s coaching era in Philly led to the first-round draft acquisitions of Jeremy Maclin and Lito Sheppard, but more often than not, Day 1 selections were spent on offensive or defensive lineman. Big Red wasn't afraid to go shopping for trench warriors in free agency though. Enter franchise Jason Peters.
The topic shifted breiefly to Jason Peters. The announcement of his retirement came shortly before Howie and Nick's interviews, and Roseman wasn't candid in his admiration for the legend.
Howie Roseman calls Jason Peters "a first-ballot Hall of Famer" as one of the best tackles in eagles history calls it a career.
The resume speak for itself: Nine Pro Bowl nods (2007–2011, 2013–2016), two First-Team All-Pro (2011, 2013), four Second-Team All-Pro nods (2007, 2008, 2010, 2014), NFL 2010s All-Decade Team member, Super Bowl LII champion. That's what Peters did in the NFL during 19 professional seasons.
Some say he tarnished his reputation some by playing so long, that below-average seasons somehow take away from his dominance when he was at his peak. When asked about Peters' retirement, he said what everyone on the know was already thinking.

Some of the other highlights from Tuesday are as follows:
Coach Reid spoke to media members in Indianapolis during the NFL Combine. He complimented his former pupil Howie Roseman. Then, the latter and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni took a moment to speak.
There were the expected questions thrown in Philly's vice president and coach's direction. They were answered as we expected. Roseman dodged the Myles Garrett question and also stated the Birds weren't opposed to spending money on a linebacker, namely Zack Baun (though the resources would need to be pulled from another source to make that happen).
