Bleacher Report writer Kristopher Knox's recent article listed the top eight players who are in line for an extension after the 2026 season.

Not to anyone's surprise, the Philadelphia Eagles' newest EDGE Jaelan Phillips is among those that Knox has as a top priority.

The Eagles acquired Phillips from the Dolphins during the trade deadline for a 2026 third-round pick in the hopes of creating a spark for their pass rush. With the investment of a high draft pick and the high upside of Phillips, the Eagles may be looking to get a deal done with the former Miami Hurricane sooner rather than later.

Phillips has been a impactful force on Eagles' defense to start his tenure

Phillips has started hot in Vic Fangio's defense. In two games, he's totaled 11 tackles, five quarterback pressures, four quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, one sack, and one fumble recovery, essentially rebooting the Eagles' pass rush, which has struggled for the majority of the season with anemic output.

With the emergence of Phillips, the Eagles' pass rush has taken on new life, and despite dealing with injuries over the past couple of years, the newly acquired Eagle has seemed to return to form, just in time for a contract year, making up for his past two injury-ridden seasons.

The Eagles last season unloaded plenty of pass rushers, losing Josh Sweat, Bryce Huff, and Milton Williams. While Moro Ojomo has done a nice job replacing Williams, the Eagles have struggled to match the production in the absence of Huff and Sweat. With Phillips in their building, Howie Roseman needs to make a push to keep the young-talented pass rusher from donning another jersey come 2026.

The Eagles have only $9.7 million in cap space per Spotrac; however, their general manager is among the best at contract management. With Phillips not being the candidate for an extension, the off-season will be exciting when it comes to building the Eagles' 2026 team.
