Oh boy. A second straight day now that the Philadelphia Eagles have a lingering issue with their star receiver, A.J. Brown.
For the second practice of the Eagles' Week 8 preparation for the New York Giants, Brown sat out of another practice as he deals with a hamstring injury. It's unknown when he injured his hamstring, but it's been severe enough to keep him out.
What a surprise to see him out after the great week he had last week in the Eagles' 28-22 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7. He finished with four receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Is there a chance Brown will miss the game against the Giants?
It would be a crushing blow for the Eagles to lose their top receiver, but it is starting to look like he may not be able to play against the Giants. That would not be good for a passing offense that is finally starting to get into rhythm.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has thrown for at least 280 or more yards in the last three games and is coming off a game where he had a perfect quarterback rating of 158.3. He has been to trust his top targets—Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert — to get the job done.
Watch for Smith to take another leap in his development as he proves to the Eagles that he is a number-one receiver with or without Brown. Smith is coming off a career day where he made nine receptions for 183 yards and a 79-yard touchdown catch.
This would not be the first time the Eagles have dealt with not having Brown on the field for injury. He missed three games last year with a hamstring injury he suffered in the season-opener against the Green Bay Packers.

The signs are not looking good for Brown, as two straight practices missed are usually an indication of a low chance of playing. Philly might have to prepare for the worst and be ready to step on the field without Brown.
