The great Michael Scott once said, "You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take." Or maybe that was Wayne Gretzky. Either way, it's a philosophy Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman clearly subscribes to when it comes to building his roster.
Roseman will take swings at former NFL Draft busts in free agency, he isn't afraid of a good reclamation project, and he's more than willing to send some draft picks for a player he believes is available at a discounted price.
That was the case as the Eagles traded multiple picks to acquire Jacksonville Jaguars backup running back Tank Bigsby, but it's looking early on like that trade might have been a fleece in favor of rookie GM James Gladstone and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Eagles fans already turning on newly acquired RB Tank Bigsby
These drives all came off horrendous kickoff returns and started at the 20, 19, 9, and 14 yard lines. #Eagles traded two picks for Tank Bigsby and made a fuss about how it was for his kickoff returning. https://t.co/0cq02C3EZc

The Eagles are struggling offensively on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, and they need a player like Bigsby to at least do his job on special teams if he's not going to provide a spark as a backup to Saquon Barkley. Unfortunately, they've gotten the oppoisite of a spark.
Bigsby has been a complete dud.
Bigsby muffed a kickoff, resulting in horrendous field position for the Eagles. he also had a return of just 16 yards on another opportunity. On top of it all, he's contributing absolutely nothing to the offense.
At the time which this post is being written, the Eagles' running game is completely non-existent outside of a couple of tush push plays that gave them an early lead over the Rams. Otherwise, the Rams have completely stifled the Philadelphia rushing attack.
This is a direct reflection of Howie Roseman feeling a constant need to go after the "next" thing on the trade market, giving up valuable future NFL Draft capital in the process.
At this point, Roseman has earned the benefit of the doubt, but that's not going to prevent the fan base from turning on a player, especially someone like Bigsby. The word out of Jacksonville dating back to late last season that Bigsby was going to render Travis Etienne completely useless and get him traded, but the opposite ended up happening.

It felt at the time of the trade like the Eagles may have rescued Bigsby from his situation in Jacksonville, but it's been a much more difficult period of adaptation than anyone would have really liked.
