Well, that divorce didn't last very long for the Philadelphia Eagles, as general manager Howie Roseman is back to his old ways of playing roster gymnastics.

After the news of legendary defensive lineman Brandon Graham being officially released, the Eagles replaced him with linebacker Chandler Martin. Just before the A.J. Brown trade to the New England Patriots, Martin was released from the Eagles to create some roster space.

Martin was an undrafted free agent for the Baltimore Ravens last season, and he played mostly on special teams. In three regular season games, he racked up five tackles. This offseason, he signed with the Eagles before his release.

Making the 53-man roster still feels like a steep hill for Martin to climb as he's got a lot of competition at linebacker. Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell are the starters at inside linebacker, with Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Smael Mondon Jr. expected to take bigger roles in the rotations.

The only way Martin is going to earn a roster spot is if he performs well on special teams and outperforms everyone else. He did well with the Ravens last year, but saw limited action and wasn't really able to show off his potential.

It's clear from Roseman's actions that Martin is closer to the 90th-man line than the other players, so he has his work cut out for him. If Graham decides that he's ready to come back before the season begins, Martin could find himself without a job again.

Until then, Martin needs to take advantage of being back in the building and get to work, because he's got a lot to prove to the Eagles that he deserves his spot on the roster.
