While Philadelphia Eagles fans wait to hear news about A.J. Brown and his trade, the team is busy making other moves to improve the roster.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter already reported that wide receiver Samori Toure was being signed by the Eagles. To make room for Toure, the Eagles announced that they have released linebacker Chandler Martin.
Last season, Martin was an undrafted free agent for the Baltimore Ravens, playing in three regular season games and racking up five tackles. He just signed with the Eagles this offseason with the expectation that he was going to fight for a roster spot on special teams.
Eagles continue to make roster moves in anticipation of an A.J. Brown trade
The Eagles need to make room on the roster for any big decisions coming, like Brown being traded. They will also have room after Brandon Graham's contract expires at 4:01 pm EST unless the Eagles get him on a new deal.
Martin was a long shot to make the roster anyway, with the linebacker room pretty solid with four guys looking like locks for the season. Toure seems to be in a similar situation where the wide receiver room is so deep that he will have trouble making the 53-man roster, but based on his experience in new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's offense from their time in Green Bay, Toure might have a leg up on the competition.
With those moves made, the next focus is on when the Eagles and New England Patriots will make the Brown trade official. Eagles fans know it'll happen, but the question is when and what all will be involved.
