In a week that has been filled with so much offensive line turnover and injuries, the Philadelphia Eagles might be starting their third different center in five games.

The Eagles had started Cam Jurgens at center in Week 1, but after Landon Dickerson's injury, Jurgens moved over to left guard, and Drew Kendall was promoted to starting center. Kendall has been holding that position over the last three games and gave the Eagles enough confidence that they decided to trade Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens.

A new problem has popped up with Kendall apparently injuring his knee in the Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He has yet to practice this week, leaving doubt that Kendall is even going to play. That leaves the door open for Jake Majors to make his first career start in the NFL in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Who is Eagles new potential starting center for Week 5 Jake Majors?

Majors was known for being a long-time starter in the Texas Longhorns' lineup from 2020 through 2024. He broke a program record for career starts at the time with 56.

During the 2025 NFL Draft, Majors went undrafted but was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Near the end of training camp, the Buccaneers waived him with an injury designation after he suffered a wrist injury.

Roughly two weeks later, the Eagles signed Majors to the practice squad. He did not make the 53-man roster back in August, but the team did bring him back to the practice squad until this week.

Majors got praised for his preseason performance on the offensive line. The depth at the offensive line at the time was too deep for him to make the team, but made enough of an impressive to get back on the practice squad.

Can Jake Majors get the job done for the Eagles against the Jaguars?

The Jaguars have a stout defensive front, producing 10 sacks this season. Jacksonville's defensive tackles alone have 2.5 sacks: one each from Ruke Orhorhoro and Arik Armstead, plus a half-sack from DaVon Hamilton.

This is a massively tall order to ask from Majors to make his NFL debut in London and try to block against this Jaguars front. Jacksonville has one of the better defenses in the NFL and can make life miserable for Majors.

The good news is that Majors has had the week to prepare with the other starters. An advantage for him is that guys like Willie Lampkin and Markel Bell know how Majors works since the three were working closely in training camp together as backups. That could actually help the Eagles out.

Majors may not have high expectations from the fan base, but if he made this roster as a practice squad, he must of done something right in the preseason and training camp. He has a chance to really come in and save the day for the Eagles with a strong performance in London.
