Back in the miserable 2020 season for the Philadelphia Eagles, there was one shining moment that got fans excited about the future: Jalen Hurts making his first extensive appearance at quarterback versus the Green Bay Packers.
At this time, the Eagles were four games under .500 and on the verge of being eliminated from postseason contention as the Birds were down 20-3 going into the fourth quarter against Green Bay. Hurts comes in for the washed-up Carson Wentz and got them within a touchdown at 23-16 before a 77-yard touchdown run by Aaron Jones sealed the 30-16 win for Green Bay.
Hurts finished that game, completing five of his 12 passes for 109 yards and one touchdown, with one interception and 29 rushing yards. In his first public comments since the bye week, Hurts shared his experience in that game.
"No one was there. ...We hadn't played at Lambeau Field since then. I think it could be a little nostalgic. I remember not winning the game. We should have won the game."
His follow-up answer to the question of whether that game showed he can play at the NFL level is why he has been the guy he has been since 2020.
"No, I knew that from that practice."

Hurts' swagger gives Eagles a chance to win a game every week
While Hurts had to deal with the accuracy concerns in his first couple of years in the NFL, he proved early on that he can play at a high level, whether it was throwing the deep ball or using his legs to make plays.
The 2025 season has been quite the rocky year for the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback, but he has managed to have a great run of games to the point of putting him in the conversation for MVP. Hurts has completed over 70% of his passes for 1,677 yards and 15 touchdowns to just one interception. He's also run for 207 yards and five touchdowns in eight games.
Even when things are going wrong in Philly, Hurts has demonstrated his confidence and calm demeanor. Nothing gets in his head as week after week, he handles the media to perfection, even if fans don't always love his responses.

That kind of attitude from him is what has made Hurts one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL over the last four years and will continue to do so.
