A lot has been said about the Philadelphia Eagles' offense and how the unit has performed so far, but there are still plenty of standouts from that side of the ball.
The Eagles' wide receivers were taking a ton of heat early on in camp. As the days have gone on, they are starting to look a lot better and more in rhythm with quarterback Jalen Hurts.
There have been plenty of standouts from that group, with Dontayvion Wicks getting a lot of media attention. Another name is finally starting to make the rounds that only Eagles fans have known for being great since last year.
How Darius Cooper is finally getting his love during Philadelphia Eagles training camp
After practice, Hurts spoke with NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo and analyst Brian Baldinger. When Garafolo asked about which player has stood out to Hurts during camp, the franchise quarterback had to give a shoutout to Darius Cooper.
“I think Darius Cooper has done a really good job,” Hurts said. “He’s always been a big body, physical, strong hands guy, but just to see how he’s transitioned going into year two, I’m definitely excited for him.”
Cooper was a breakout star last training camp as an undrafted rookie out of Tarleton State. His preseason performance against the Cincinnati Bengals, when he caught a touchdown, earned him a spot on the 53-man roster. He finished the regular season with nine receptions for 92 yards.
The signs were there in training camp last year to know that Cooper was going to be a special player. When rookies and some veterans were taking part in development drills after practice, Cooper played so well that he stuck around with Hurts and caught passes from him.
While some would attribute Cooper making the team to Johnny Wilson's ACL injury in training camp last season, he earned his right to make the cut. It wasn't just his offensive skills; Cooper's abilities on special teams also got the team's attention.
This training camp was going to be tougher than last year for Cooper because so much new competition was being brought in. The Eagles added Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Elijah Moore, and rookie Makai Lemon.
To Cooper's credit, he has not let that distract him from having the confidence to make the team. Through one week of camp, it feels like every other day Cooper makes a spectacular catch that separates him from the other wide receivers on the team.
For Hurts to shout out Cooper like that, it's a clear sign that the franchise quarterback likes what he is doing and wants to keep him around. The Eagles' final decision at wide receiver is only being made tougher by Cooper killing it in camp.

Good luck to head coach Nick Sirianni, offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, and general manager Howie Roseman. Eagles fans don't envy them for having to make that kind of decision, but they might have to put Cooper on the roster in 2026.
