It's the story that never ends, but everyone keeps talking about: the Philadelphia Eagles and a trade involving wide receiver A.J. Brown.
At this point, everyone knows that it's going to happen, but now it's only a matter of figuring out what the Eagles will get out of the deal. While appearing on 97.5 The Fanatic, ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler shared what he has been hearing and what he thinks Brown's compensation will be.
"My best guess is that they probably already agreed to something loosely," Fowler said. "They can always tweak that or rework it, but they're probably getting a one, maybe a future one, maybe it's a 2028. I don't think they'll get more than that. I think that would be the max at this point. I'd be surprised."
Jeremy Fowler thinks a first-round pick is coming for Eagles in A.J. Brown trade
Fowler added that he doesn't believe a player will be a part of the deal as the Eagles seem to be solid on the roster. Another draft pick could be involved, but not a second-round pick. Instead, Fowler thinks swapping a mid-round draft pick could be in play.
As for whether any other teams are involved in trade talks with the Eagles, Fowler doesn't believe there are, aside from rumors that the Kansas City Chiefs were involved and that the Los Angeles Rams did call. Fowler believes something is already in place with the New England Patriots to make the trade happen after June 1, when the dead cap hit isn't as bad, and the Eagles will save $7 million against the cap on Brown's trade.
Everything seems to be in place, but now it's about what Philly is going to get out of the deal. The Eagles set themselves up by adding four receivers to the room to replace Brown, so anything outside of a trade would be a stunner.
