Former Eagles coach went against what everyone has been saying about Jalen Hurts

We were told otherwise....

All offseason, Philadelphia Eagles fans were told that quarterback Jalen Hurts is just the absolute worst, but apparently, not everyone who worked with him felt that way.

Last month, an ESPN report said Hurts was uncoachable, changed plays, and showed poor body language over the past year. His former quarterbacks coach, Scot Loeffler, shared a completely different side to that story.

“He's a super coachable, championship-type of guy, and being able to work with him for a year was awesome," Loeffler said via The Blade. "He's a champion in every aspect of the word. He's hard working, smart, and he's a great competitor.”

Scot Loeffler contradicts everything that has been reported about Jalen Hurts

Hurts and Loeffler seem to have a close relationship after only spending the 2025 season working together. During the offseason, Hurts was seen working with Loeffler, as the coach appears to still be helping the quarterback out.

Under Loeffler in his only year in Philly, Hurts's completion percentage dipped to about 64%, but he did see an increase in touchdown passes as Hurts had a career-high 25 touchdowns. Many still consider the 2025 season a down year for Hurts, leading to Loeffler not being brought onto the staff of new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. Instead, Loeffler was replaced by Parks Frazier.

The Eagles seemed to have moved on from much of last year's coaching staff, which was led by former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. After finishing in the bottom 15 in every statistical category, the Eagles had to clean house and bring in fresh blood.

Hurts may not have his guy, Loeffler, there, but he seems to be making good progress under him, even if everyone feels last year was bad for the former Super Bowl MVP. It's good to hear that at least someone who was a part of the organization had Hurts' back.
