Jordan Davis won't let NFL's Pro Bowl lump of coal affect his mindset with Eagles

He's laser focused.

There are not a lot of happy people in Philadelphia after the league's horrendous act against one of the NFL's defensive tackles: Eagles' Jordan Davis.

The league announced the rosters for the 2025 Pro Bowl, and five Eagles players were selected, including Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Zack Baun, Jalen Carter, and Cam Jurgens. Of all the snubs on the team, Davis' was the worst the league passed up on.

Many of Davis' teammates defended him and criticized the NFL for missing the mark. For Davis, while he selfishly wanted to get selected (which Eagles fans understand 100%), he's not going to let that affect him.

“It was a little disheartening," Davis said via NBC Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro. "I won’t even sit there and lie. But at the end of the day, that’s just the decision of the fans and I guess the people who voted. I don’t have any say in that. All I can do is just continue to work. I think that’s the biggest motivation for me is just continue working. Pro Bowl, while it’s good to have, it doesn’t tell the story of the journey that I’ve been through. And all this work that I’ve been putting in for myself, I don’t do it for the Pro Bowl. I do it for the team. I’m just satisfied getting better and playing my best ball.”

Davis' resume is better than most defensive tackles, including Carter's

The 25-year-old defensive tackle is having the best season of his career after losing 26 pounds in the offseason and showing he can last longer on the field and has quickness Eagles fans haven't seen from Davis before. In 15 games, Davis racked up 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss, eight quarterback pressures, six pass deflections, six quarterback hits, and 4.5 sacks.

Davis is arguably having a better season than Carter, with the key difference being availability: Carter has missed five games, while Davis has played in every game. Also, Davis has been a dominant force in stopping the passing game from batting the ball down at the line or getting pressure on the quarterback, which wasn't really his forte at the beginning of his career.

Of all the players in Philly, Davis has the best story, so that's why fans and teammates are disappointed that the NFL won't give him his love. He's worked so hard to improve, and now he's one of the league's best defensive tackles.

Davis will no doubt use this as motivation to keep getting better and wreak havoc in the postseason for the Eagles.
