Philadelphia Eagles fans are feeling a bit uneasy later as they are starting to see the same signs that haunted this team back in 2023.
After a stellar 10-1 start and plenty of ugly games in 2023, the Eagles epically collapsed, losing six of their last seven games, including the blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card game. While the 2025 Eagles have not started as well with an 8-4 record, the signs are starting to creep in for another collapse.
Eagles left tackle Jordan Mailata responded to those concerns on his weekly show on SportsRadio 94 WIP. Mailata was not about to go down that route of the 2025 team looking like the 2023 season.
"The way we go about the practice, the way we attack every day with attention to detail. The coaching, the coaching technique, it's there this year. It wasn't there in 23."
There are key differences to feel confident the Eagles will be okay this season
For one, despite all the current backlash with him, Jalen Hurts is having a much better season. He has thrown just two interceptions on the year, when he had 15 picks in 2023. His completion percentage is higher this season (66.1%) than in 2023 (65.4%).
The defense in Philadelphia this year is in way better shape than it was in 2023 when Sean Desai was the defensive coordinator. Philly's 2023 unit was near the bottom in multiple categories, while this season's team is hanging tough in the top half with Vic Fangio running the show.
Looking at the schedule for the end of the season, the Eagles have a much easier schedule than in 2023. Three of their last six opponents in 2023 finished with winning records, including the San Francisco 49ers, who went to the Super Bowl. This year, the Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills are the only two teams with winning records in the last five contests the Eagles will face, so they are in good shape to finish the season strong.

It's too early for Eagles fans to get crazy and panic, as there is still time to turn this season into a success. Give the team time to see what happens in the final five games of the regular season before we bring up 2023 again.
