Josh Uche's contract construction furthers narratives of the Eagles' brilliance

Saying Josh Uche was a low-risk, high-reward signing is the understatement of the Eagles' offseason.

At the risk of sounding negative, we have to say this if no one else will. We have had some free time to think about this during a quiet Philadelphia Eagles signing period. But, this might be one of the weakest free-agent classes we've seen in quite a while. Old stars are being graded off reputations they no longer live up to. Average guys are being paid like they're the best in the business.

We've seen a week's worth of overpayment which happens every offseason. It is what it is, and we'd never complain about another person's payday. Still, this season seems worse than we've seen in previous seasons, and here's the thing. We're just getting started.

As great as the Eagles' front office has been year in and year out, they aren't immune to occasionally offering a bigger purse than they should. This year the plan is different though. The Birds will have to pay their young stars soon, and they seem content to fill holes with low-risk, high-reward signings.

Josh Uche's new deal is a testament to the brilliance of the Eagles' front office.

We know many of you are sad to see some of the Eagles you love go. We'd encourage you to pick those chins up. No one balances the salary cap like Howie Roseman, and if he overpays somewhere, he'll make it up elsewhere.

He understands the nature of the business, so if he asks for patience, as he did during the NFL Combine, we're willing to oblige. He has earned that.

RB A.J. Dillon, EDGE Josh Uche, TE Harrison Bryant, and CB Adoree' Jackson have all been added since the new league year began on Wednesday. Many see Uche as the guy having the most upside, and here's some great news. His deal won't affect Philly negatively. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo offered some particulars on Friday morning.

Ladies and gentlemen, that is the definition of 'low-risk' and 'high-reward'. Uche knew this probably wouldn't be an offseason where he hit the jackpot and cash in greatly, but this will offer him to demonstrate his worthiness.

The question now is as follows. Will this signing be remembered like those of Ryan Kerrigan or Devin White, or does Josh have some Zack Baun in him?

Uche knew this probably wouldn't be an offseason where he hit the jackpot, but if we haven't learned anything else from Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun, it's been this. If Uche shows and prove, Philly will reward him.
