Training camp can be seen as a good time of year for players to get ready for the regular season, but for nearly half the Philadelphia Eagles players, it could mean the end of their dreams of being on an active roster.

91 players are heading into training camp in two weeks with hopes of making an impact on the 53-man roster. There are going to be plenty of intriguing position battles going on that Eagles fans may not even be aware of yet.

One underrated battle is on the defensive line and what the depth is going to look like behind Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo. While names like rookie seventh-round pick Uar Bernard, Byron Young, and Ty Robinson have everyone's attention, there's another name Eagles fans need to focus on, as his time might be coming to an end with the franchise in training camp if he doesn't play well.

Gabe Hall is entering a make-or-break training camp with the Eagles

Hall is a name that Eagles might be more familiar with regarding his play in the preseason, but not in the regular season. That's because coming out of college, he was an undrafted free agent in 2024 and has never made the roster, but has been on the practice squad in each of the last two years.

In six preseason games, Hall has five total tackles. He racked up one of them in 2024 and had four last year.

Last year, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio was actually very complimentary of Hall and what he brings to the team. Fangio called him "a poster child of what practice squad is supposed to be" among other compliments.

"I think he just kept getting more confident," Fangio said early in training camp in 2025. "Coming off the injury he had in college. He needed some confidence in that regard. He needed to get stronger. Needed to adjust playing playing against men, not college players. It was a great learning experience for him."

The story might not be any different for Hall entering training camp in 2026. The competition is just as stiff as last year since it's pretty much the same players competing for a job, except for Bernard, who's new. Keep in mind that Brandon Graham is not under contract yet, but if he is, that's another defensive lineman who would get a roster spot.

Hall would be a great story to make the roster after three training camps, but if he can't bring anything new to the table, he might be on the practice squad once again.
