In what has been known for weeks, the official news finally broke on Tuesday. Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has accepted the job to become the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
This has been the league's worst-kept secret for a while, now. Everyone knew it was coming. Even quarterback Jalen Hurts seemed to know Moore was heading for New Orleans leading up to Super Bowl 59, but he didn't want to comment too much on the topic.
What a way for Moore to go out, though, as a world champion. After the Eagles boat-raced the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night, Moore was able to move on to bigger and better things knowing he had won a ring.
Now, he gets to try and do the same down in New Orleans where he'll face much tougher challenges ahead.
Kellen Moore has his work cut out for him as the Saints head coach
The Saints have a multitude of problems, starting with the fact that they do not have a long-term solution at quarterback.
Will they opt to stick with Derek Carr under center? Moore might be great for Carr if the Saints want to try and squeeze a little bit more out of the veteran passer.
However, Moore could also be a huge positive for a guy like Spencer Rattler, whom some believe has a load of potential if he's able to hone-in on some areas of weakness.
Regardless, Moore and the Saints are going to have to try and put together a formidable team while facing monstrous financial burdens. As is typical in New Orleans, the team has pushed money down the road for years and go into this offseason strapped for cash, once again.
Will Moore's prowess be enough to help New Orleans get back on track in a hurry?
