There is a trend here....

The Philadelphia Eagles' offense continues to sputter, producing inadequate output that has put a spotlight on the team.

Philly is coming off an awful 22-19 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14 that saw five turnovers from the offense and another game with under 400 yards of offense. Local Philly radio station, SportsRadio 94 WIP, posted an "X" on its social media about the team's recent struggles in certain formations.

They shared that out of 29 plays in the shotgun formation (quarterback five yards behind the center), the Eagles offense averaged 3.2 yards per play, with 2.9 yards per rush, and 3.4 yards per pass. While under center through eight plays, the Eagles offense averaged 9.4 yards/play, with 7.6 yards per rush, and 22.0 yards per pass.

Eagles' offense has a path to success, but will Kevin Patullo even notice?

While the sample size is limited, with the Eagles under constant criticism for their offensive woes, each statistic will (and should) be cherry-picked, broken down, and over-analyzed, especially with Kevin Patullo calling plays. The Eagles' offense is coming off a game in which Jalen Hurts turned the ball over five times, and it's produced anemic outputs series after series.

The troubling part about the Eagles' offensive output is the lack of adjustments and understanding on that side of the ball. With the continued struggles, injuries, and lack of cohesion, Patullo, Sirianni, and even Hurts seemingly are not on the same page with their lack of ability to adapt to game situations on the "fly".

While the Eagles ' under-center yardage is seemingly more effective, it is worth noting that the team's statistical average can be cherry-picked as well. The Eagles saw a 52-yard rushing touchdown by Saquon Barkley come from a variation of the "tush push" formation, which obviously inflated those numbers.

Regardless of whether the Eagles are under center or in shotgun, at the end of the day, football is not an overly complicated game. It comes down to eleven men vs eleven men, and at this point, it doesn't appear the Eagles have the grit to get through.

With an 8-5 record and currently the third seed in the NFC, the Eagles return home to face the Las Vegas Raiders in hopes of getting back on the right path toward the postseason.
