Everyone in Philly is excited to see how the Philadelphia Eagles will look in offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's system.
The Eagles have been needing a facelift after the nightmare that was 2025 under Kevin Patullo, and the offense finished in the bottom 15 in every major offensive category, including total offense, rushing, passing, and scoring. Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson talked about his excitement for being in the offense and how he has wanted to be a part of it for a long time.
"I've watched this system...from afar, and have also envied (it) and wanted to be a part of it," Johnson said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "Here I am after all these years. Not saying we're going to be better, there's a lot to learn. But I think we have the ability to be more than we were last year, be a lot more than what we were in the run game. I think it's going to open up the pass game, too."
Lane Johnson is ready for something new with Eagles' offense
Philly really needed a change on offense, as for years they have just leaned on their running game to carry the offense. Mannion's system will bring a different balance that fans have been begging for over the last year.
There's going to be more plays being called under center, more RPOs to use Jalen Hurts's legs, and more passes over the middle of the field. This will help the offense open up the running game for Saquon Barkley and give Hurts more options in the passing game, beyond the five million hitch routes run last year. The Eagles are about to attack the defense in ways they haven't done in a long time.
Johnson has mentioned that Mannion's scheme will also be very friendly to the offensive line. He told the media that he's happy that he will get more guard help than he ever has in his career, which should take some of the burden off his shoulders to carry the right side of the line.
