There are Philadelphia Eagles players who have been noticeably gone from OTAs over the last two weeks, but rolling into the third week, when it is now mandatory minicamp, if a player is not there and injured, there's a problem.
On the first day of mandatory OTAs, there was a list of players who were there but not practicing:
- Makai Lemon
- Jihaad Campbell
- Grant Calcaterra
- Chandler Martin
- Britain Covey
- Carson Steele
- Tucker Large
One other player was not there, which everyone seemed to notice. It might be a concern for multiple reasons, but it is an odd situation that Eagles fans are trying to figure out.
Where is edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka?
This is now the third week in a row that Tryon-Shoyinka has been absent from OTAs, with this situation now being carried over into mandatory minicamp. There have been no reports of him dealing with any kind of injuries or dealing with a personal matter.
The Eagles signed Tryon-Shoyinka in the offseason on a one-year deal to give the team's edge rushers some depth, and he was considered on the bubble to make the 53-man roster. That was until Philly traded for Jonathan Greenard and then selected Keyshawn James-Newby in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft. Now his status on the roster is in jeopardy, and with him not being at workouts, that could cause an even bigger problem.
Tryon-Shoyinka is a former first-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who has never really exploded onto the scene. Through five seasons, he's never recorded more than five sacks in a season and has been on three NFL teams in the last two years, including the Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, and Chicago Bears.

If there is a personal matter going on with him, the hope is that everything will work out just fine. This is a situation worth monitoring, as it could have a massive effect on what happens with edge rusher going into training camp.
