The Philadelphia Eagles saw their most important potential A.J. Brown trade partner, the New England Patriots, make a move that could end any hopes of a trade.

New England signed wide receiver Romeo Doubs in free agency to a four-year, $70 million deal. That kind of money usually indicates that a receiver like Doubs will most likely be the number one target in the offense.

This led the Eagles to believe that the trade talks about Brown could be over for the Patriots. A new update sheds light on where they stand in the conversations and whether New England is out of the running.

Encouraging update for Eagles fans on A.J. Brown trade talks

NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe got the info fans need to hear about the trade talks. Wolfe assured the Eagles fan base that nothing should be counted out yet.

"I’m told Romeo Doubs signing with Patriots DOES NOT end their interest in trading for A.J. Brown.

Obviously WR need isn’t as dire so dynamics change a bit and maybe ultimately they don’t land him because of high price. But they still love A.J."

While the dream of trading Brown is very much alive, the Eagles will no doubt have a bigger hill to climb to get the deal done. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has asked for a first and second-round pick in exchange for Brown in a trade.

This has been criticized as too expensive, but the truth is that the deal matches the value Brown brings to a team. He's been a three-time Pro Bowler and helped the Eagles make two Super Bowls in four seasons with the team. The $20 million loss Philly would incur by trading Brown before June 1 also contributes to the high trade price.

There are still a lot of Eagles fans who don't even want to trade him, so they probably see the Doubs signing as a good thing. New England might still be in it, but Roseman is running out of time to get anything done.
