For all of the gruff Philadelphia Eagles fans Jalen Hurts has taken over the latter half of his early career, some people forget just how great he has been.

It wasn't that long ago when the Eagles took on the Green Bay Packers for a Thanksgiving Day game back in 2022 and Hurts made history -- more on the specifics in just a minute.

In just a few days, Eagles fans will be able to start purchasing tickets and planning their trips to watch this franchise work their way through the 2026 schedule. And, it's a schedule that might include a bit of Thanksgiving Day magic, once more, for these Eagles.

According to the latest rumor making its rounds, the Eagles could wind up playing on Thanksgiving Day in 2026. But this year, the rumor has Philly taking on the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium.

Update: Adam Schefter has confirmed the Eagles will travel to take on the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day 2026.

Jalen Hurts' Thanksgiving Day magic would be even better if he could do it again against the Cowboys

The last and only time Hurts played on Thanksgiving Day, back in that thrilling 2022 victory over the Packers, he made franchise history by rushing for over 150 yards in a single game. Hurts broke the single-game record for rushing yards by an Eagles quarterback.

Also on that day, Hurts became the first quarterback in 70 years to throw for over 150 yards, rush for over 150 yards and throw two touchdowns in a game. It was only the fourth time, ever, an NFL player had topped the 150-yard mark in both passing and rushing in a game.

Now, just picture Hurts repeating his Thanksgiving Day performance, four years later, and against the Cowboys.

Comparing last year to the coming season isn't always a sure sign of things to come, but last season's Cowboys defense was historically and horifically bad under Matt Eberflus. Obviously, the Eagles know Dallas' new defensive coordinator well, in Christian Parker.

Parker now takes over a Cowboys defense that should be much better after an offseason full of additions. But, do the Eagles have an upper hand in knowing Parker's tendencies?

Or, does Parker have an upper hand in knowing the Eagles' offense?

There are so many layers to this game which will make it one for the ages, no doubt.

But, the big question is, will Hurts be able to rise to the occasion in such a way that he makes history again?
