Jalen Hurts hates that they got what they wanted this weekend, but it was after the Eagles franchise quarterback made his mark in their history books.

After a dreadful five-turnover Week 14 performance that had fans and media calling for Tanner McKee to "save" the season. While McKee did play this weekend, and while it was due to Hurts' performance, the context may not be what those expected coming off his matchup against the Chargers.

Hurts played one of his most efficient games this season, going 12 of 15 for 175 yards and three passing touchdowns while adding another 39 rushing yards on seven carries, bouncing back in a much-needed 31-0 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders. In doing so, Hurts became the first quarterback in Eagles history to record multiple games with a 150+ passer rating and 80%+ completion percentage (80.0%) in the same season.

Jalen Hurts made franchise history with his play

While the statistic may be cherry-picked, it does speak to the high level of play Hurts has put in this season. While the Eagles' offense has been under plenty of deserved criticism, Hurts, outside of Week 14, has been consistent in providing a level-headed approach. At the same time, other members of the team have been highly volatile.

What is also extremely impressive is that the statistic above hasn't been achieved by Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, Nick Foles' magical 2013 season, or the near-MVP season of Carson Wentz in 2017. Despite Hurts' perceived shortcomings, he's on pace to become the franchise's best quarterback by the time his contract is up after the 2028 season.

Hurts currently sits at fourth in "wins" and passing yards, while also sitting at sixth in passing touchdowns, not to mention he's the franchise's 11th leading rushing and seven rushing touchdowns, passing Steve Van Buren for the top spot in rushing touchdowns. Even when criticized, Hurts continues to lead the Eagles in the right direction, a role he has filled for the past five seasons as their starting quarterback.
