The Philadelphia Eagles have some big decisions to make in free agency, but when it comes to safety Reed Blankenship, the fans have no idea how they will approach his situation.
There should be interest from other teams in Blankenship, with many wondering what the Eagles would offer him to stay in Philly after having what was considered a disappointing year with just 53 tackles. While the price tag is up for grabs, the most recent safety signing might actually have a dramatic impact on how much Blankenship gets in free agency.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Los Angeles Rams have re-signed safety Kam Curl to a three-year, $36 million contract with a max value of $39 million. Curl just finished up his second season with the Rams after racking up a career-high 122 tackles on the year.
The #Rams and star S Kam Curl have agreed to terms on a new deal to keep him in Los Angeles before free agency, per The Insiders.

Rams re-sigining Kam Curl has massive impact on Reed Blankenship
The new deal for Curl now gives Eagles fans a general idea of what the safety market will look like. According to Spotrac, Blankenship is looking at an estimated market value of $7.2 million per year on his next contract.
If Blankenship lands around the $7 million-per-year mark, that would be more ideal for the Eagles to consider bringing him back. Anything close to what Curl got would be a different story.
Philly is limited on the amount of money they can spend as they are trying to save about $17 million per year for edge rusher Jaelan Phillips and another $50 million total per year to give defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis contract extensions to stay on the team long term.
Another aspect is that the Eagles might have actually been interested in Curl being a replacement for Blankenship in free agency, but never got the chance to talk to him. With his price tag being at $12 million per year, though, it was probably best for Eagles general manager Howie Roseman not to even consider it.

There is still so much unknown about whether Blankenship will be back in an Eagles uniform, but Curl's signing made one thing very clear: Philly will have to pay up to keep their guy in 2026.
