This offseason has been filled with just the most impossible decisions for the Philadelphia Eagles as they prepare for a very tough offseason.

They are already in the middle of the madness of what to do about wide receiver A.J. Brown in a trade. Philly also has four starters who are about to be free agents, including edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, safety Reed Blankenship, linebacker Nakobe Dean, and tight end Dallas Goedert.

It's that tight end who has Eagles fans with the most mixed feelings, as the team looks to see what to do with him. That all falls on Eagles general manager Howie Roseman to make what could be a defining move in the offseason.

Goedert is coming off a bounce-back season after having to take a $4 million pay cut last offseason. He finished with career-highs in receptions (60) and touchdowns (11), as those 11 scores were a franchise record for the most touchdowns by a tight end in a season.

While those numbers look good, they don't tell the full story of how the season actually went for Goedert. He did finish with 591 yards, beating his 2024 total, but still one of the lowest of his career. It also hurts him that he had a career-low 9.8 yards per reception, as most of his receptions and touchdowns were short.

Now with the offseason here, Goedert is looking at a potential contract value of $7.6 million per year, according to Spotrac. While that would be lower than the $10 million he got from the Eagles last season, he is still about to get good money from a team that wants to pay for him.

Roseman stated at the NFL Combine that he wants to have Goedert back, as he appreciated him for taking the pay cut last season. It will all come down to the financial situation, though, as the Eagles could be paying Phillips north of $17 million per year if a deal gets done. That doesn't include potential contract extensions for defensive tackles Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter, who could be looking at $20-30 million per year each.

Goedert has been a valuable member of the Eagles for a long time, but this is where the team might have to make a tough financial decision and move on from him to make sure other parts of the roster are solidified for the future.
