Going into their Monday Night Football showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14, the Philadelphia Eagles are looking better in the NFC playoffs.
The Eagles entered the weekend with an 8-4 record and holding onto the number three seed in the NFC. They still have first place in the NFC East and needed some help to get back up in the running.
One of the key results of the action was the Chicago Bears falling to the Green Bay Packers 28-21, which knocked the Bears out of the number one seed. The Los Angeles Rams, unfortunately, picked up convincing wins over the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks, blowing out the Atlanta Falcons.
What does it all mean for the Eagles in the playoff picture?
Well, the bad news is that it really didn't do much to help the seeding in the NFC. The Eagles remain as the number three seed. Here's a look at the whole rankings:
1. Los Angeles Rams (10-3)
2. Green Bay Packers (9-3-1)
3. Philadelphia Eagles (8-4)
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6)
5. Seattle Seahawks (10-3)
6. San Francisco 49ers (9-4)
7. Chicago Bears (9-4)
The good news for Philly is that the Bears lost, which is suitable for tiebreaker purposes. Chicago needs to keep losing so the Eagles don't have to deal with them, since the Bears would win a tiebreaker because of the head-to-head.
Los Angeles and Green Bay staying on top for now is okay, since the Eagles would beat both in a tiebreaker, but the Rams have to get another loss for the Eagles to be in the conversation. The Packers' tie will hurt them, since if they both win out, the Eagles would beat them.

It's going to be a tight race to the very end, but if the Eagles want the number one seed, they will need a little help, and they must win out.
