Technically, while Philadelphia Eagles fans are not feeling so hot about their 22-19 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football, it didn't necessarily blow up their playoff picture too badly.
While this loss was more about momentum, Philly is still in good shape overall for a solid playoff seeding. The Eagles left Los Angeles with an 8-5 record and are now losers of three straight games.
That is the bad part about the Eagles, and yes, there's plenty of bad going around for the team. So what is the good news about the NFC playoffs?
Updated NFC playoff picture after Week 14
The good news for the Eagles is that they still have a pretty good lead in the NFC East. That 8-5 record is helping them stay two games ahead of the Dallas Cowboys for the division lead.
Here comes the bad news about the top seed: it's not looking great. That loss doesn't eliminate the Eagles from having the top seed in the NFC, but it certainly made life a lot harder for them to get there.
After the Eagles-Chargers game, here's a new NFC playoff picture:
1. Los Angeles Rams (10-3)
2. Green Bay Packers (9-3-1)
3. Philadelphia Eagles (8-5)
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-6)
5. Seattle Seahawks (10-3)
6. San Francisco 49ers (9-4)
7. Chicago Bears (9-4)
The Eagles did get some help this week with the Green Bay Packers knocking off the Chicago Bears 28-21, which is good since the Bears own any tiebreakers with the Eagles. Los Angeles blowing out the Arizona Cardinals was not great, as that put the Rams on top of the conference.
Philly still has a shot at the top seed, as in any tiebreaker situation among the Eagles, the Rams, and the Packers, Philadelphia holds the tiebreaker since it beat both teams. The rough part is that it would require both teams to lose two games.
There's still the lingering issue of the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, who both have better records than the Eagles. Philly has to hope those two will lose some games as well, so they don't get into any tiebreakers with them.

In other words, the Eagles need half of the conference to completely collapse for any chance of winning the top seed in the NFC. For all Philly fans, the first focus should be winning the division, as it seems more than unlikely the top seed is there for the taking, but there is technically a path to get there.
