Latest Eagles-Patriots trade talks involving A.J. Brown are at a standstill

Not sounding great right now.

Right now, the most realistic possibility of the Philadelphia Eagles trading star wide receiver A.J. Brown away would be to the New England Patriots.

The two sides have been furiously talking over the last week about getting a deal done before the new league year begins, but there now might be a holdup. NFL insider Josina Anderson is reporting that the Patriots are trying to change up the offer for Brown.

"From what I’m told earlier today, at some point in the latest talks between the Eagles and Patriots, an adjustment to a multi-asset asking price was floated.

However, New England’s maintained (so far**) they’re not giving up a first-round pick for AJ Brown, per league source."

Patriots trying to offer something different for A.J. Brown

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been very firm on his stance that he must get a first-round pick and a Day 2 pick for Brown for the last two weeks. Roseman isn't about to back down from that deal unless the Patriots have some kind of spectacular offer.

NFL teams need to understand that the Eagles are taking a big loss by trading away Brown. Not only are they losing a three-time Pro Bowler who has played a massive role in this offense over the last four years, but they will also incur a $20 million cap hit for moving him before June 1.

Everyone knows how badly the Patriots want Brown after releasing Stefon Diggs from the team. They are not in a position to change their offer at this point, as the Eagles want their first-round pick, or they can move on with Brown on the roster.

The deadline is looming for the Eagles to figure out whether they are going to trade Brown before they start with their offseason plan, so the fan base will keep their eyes out for anything to come in.
