While no one questions whether the Philadelphia Eagles have a real shot at making a run in the playoffs, one aspect of the team is giving everyone pause when naming them the clear-cut Super Bowl champions.
Former NFL head coach Bill Belichick appeared on SiriusXM as he was asked about his thoughts on the Eagles' upcoming NFC Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers. Belichick likes the Eagles' defense, but he definitely had some questions about the offense and even Jalen Hurts.
“Nobody's dealt with more injuries than the 49ers have," Belichick said on SiriusXM via Rob Maaddi. "They've been banged up across the board, and that's really hurt 'em defensively. Well, it's hurt 'em offensively, but it's really hurt 'em defensively. The big question for Philadelphia, I think, is how are they going to play offensively and how's the quarterback? How's that going to go? Philadelphia can, as we know, get hot and can be as good as anybody. They've been winning a lot on defense this year. So it'll be an interesting matchup there. Two great coaches, Coach Shanahan, Coach Sirianni, and Coach Fangio on defense. It'll be a good matchup from that standpoint. But Philadelphia looks better on paper. They'll have to go out there and not turn the ball over and play the type of defense they've been playing this season and do a good job on the 49ers.”
Bill Belichick is worried about the Eagles' offense and Jalen Hurts before 49ers game
It's 100% fair for Belichick to question the Eagles' offense, as they have not been good for most of the season. They are ranked 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game), 23rd in passing (194.3 yards per game), 18th in rushing (116.9 yards per game), and 19th in points (22.3 points per game).
If Eagles fans are looking for anything positive to say about this offense, there is one stat they were among the best in the league at. Philly was tied for fourth with the fewest number of turnovers on the season with 15.
Where Belichick might lose Eagles fans is the question about how Hurts is. There might be concerns about Hurts not being the complete quarterback everyone wants him to be, but he's playing well late in the season and is always ready for the postseason when it comes around.
Hurts finished the season completing 64.8% of his passes for 3,224 yards and a career-high 25 touchdowns to six interceptions. He also rushed for 421 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games.
One thing about Hurts is that he is a winner and will be ready to get his team a victory against the 49ers. He's 6-3 in the postseason, taking the Eagles to the Super Bowl twice and winning one.

The real question really should be whether Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is ready to go, as he has struggled mightily in his first season in the position. If he comes up short against San Francisco's sound defense, there's no way Patullo gets a second chance to run the offense in 2026.
