Entering training camp, the Philadelphia Eagles' cornerback room was always going to be crowded, and some talented guys were going to get cut.
Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Riq Woolen are the stars of the group that will lead the starters in 2026. Behind them, though, are a ton of really good role players, and a lot of them have a legit argument to make the roster.
The crazy part is none of them are really a lock to make the 53-man roster, making the preseason that much more important for all of them. One of those corners, though, seems to be slowly making some noise and could sneak onto the team: Jakorian Bennett.

Last season, the Eagles traded for Bennett from the Las Vegas Raiders in hopes he could dethrone Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo for the CB2 job. That never happened, as Bennett started just one of 11 games and missed some time with injury.
In those 11 games, Bennett finished with seven tackles and one pass deflection. He allowed six completions on 11 targets for 50 yards, averaging 8.3 yards per catch. The 54.5% completion percentage and 66.5 QB rating were the lowest allowed in his NFL career.
Entering training camp, Bennett had an uphill battle to make the team. He had to fight off Jonathan Jones, Ringo, Mac McWilliams, and more to make the backup roster. According to ESPN Eagles reporter Tim McManus, though, Bennett seems to be having a good summer.
"Reserve corner Jakorian Bennett has had a good number of pass breakups this summer. He had another one on a Hurts attempt for Moore down the right seam on Tuesday."
Bennett has been lining up with the backups and has played relatively well so far. While he isn't going to nab a bunch of interceptions, he is tough in coverage, and even as a 5-foot-10 corner, he can be physical.
Training camp is a good place for Bennett to test his coverage skills against the variety of receivers on the Eagles. Guys like Dontayvion Wicks and Darius Cooper have gotten praised, but even Elijah Moore is having a good camp. For Bennett to play tough coverage on Moore who has been a WR3 for years in the NFL, that's a good sign of what he can do.

Things won't get easier for Bennett, but Eagles fans know he has the ability to be a good corner. He just needs to find that consistency that defensive coordinator Vic Fangio cherishes more than any other trait on the defense, besides versatility.
