Week 3 of training camp has just gotten underway for the Philadelphia Eagles, and with the preseason now in front of them, things should start getting clearer on the roster.
Most of the position battles are still being figured out for the Eagles, as not much has changed. It is truly going to take some real game tape to determine who makes the 53-man roster.
After two weeks of work, though, many wonder who has the inside track to make the roster and who might be on the outside looking in. Here's an updated look at the current 53-man roster projection and who will make the cut, and who could be the next members of the practice squad.
Philadelphia Eagles' updated roster projection after two weeks of training camp
QB - Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, Andy Dalton
Cole Payton is showing improvement, but it still feels as though he would benefit from being on the practice squad. If McKee or Dalton gets traded, then Payton will easily make the roster as a third-stringer.
RB - Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley
After Dameon Pierce got banged up and Elijah Mitchell was placed on IR, it feels as though Shipley has nearly locked up the RB3 job. If Pierce bounces back and gets some reps, there might be a battle again, but Shipley seems to have the advantage.
WR - DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, Darius Cooper, Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, Makai Lemon, Elijah Moore
Cooper is becoming more like a lock and could even be a Day 1 starter. It really comes down to Moore and Johnny Wilson. Right now, Moore is having the better training camp, so he gets the edge while Wilson most likely heads to the practice squad.
TE - Dallas Goedert, Johnny Mundt, Eli Stowers
There really shouldn't be too much movement at tight end, with Stowers and Mundt potentially battling for the TE2 spot. Stowers is showing improvement, but Mundt is the blocking tight end Sean Mannion needs for his offense, so the veteran will get the edge over the rookie.
OL - Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson, Markel Bell, Micah Morris, Willie Lampkin, Drew Kendall, Jake Majors, John Ojukwu
Willie Lampkin is getting a ton of attention so that he might make the final 53-man roster. A lot of the former Day 3 draft picks the Eagles had might be on their way to the practice squad.
DL - Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Ty Robinson, Byron Young
Robinson is really starting to ramp up as he gets first-team reps on defense. This should be the defensive front with Uar Bernard potentially pushing for a spot. Bernard might be a long way from being regular season ready, though.
EDGE - Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith Jr., A.J. Epenesa, Arnold Ebiketie
Hunt is solidifying his starting spot over Smith. Otherwise, there shouldn't be too many surprises from the edge rusher room. When Greenard returns, that should make things interesting.
LB - Zack Baun, Jihaad Campbell, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Smael Mondon Jr., Chance Campbell
With Vic Fangio giving Chance Campbell a shoutout, it feels like he could be moving his way up the ranks and onto the roster. Watch for Mondon, as he could be an interesting trade candidate or to be cut from the team.
CB - Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Riq Woolen, Jonathan Jones, Mac McWilliams
It feels as though Kelee Ringo is becoming more and more like a guy who won't make the roster since he is doing work during developmental time, which is usually for rookies. Jones and McWilliams feel like the safer choices for the moment to make the team.
S - Andrew Mukuba, Marcus Epps, Michael Carter II, J.T. Gray
Nothing is changing at the safety position at the moment. Epps and Carter are performing well and making a run at being the other starter alongside Mukuba.

Special Teams - Jake Elliott, Braden Mann, Rocco Underwood
Special teams should continue to stay the same for the rest of training camp. Elliott seems to be doing better in the practices, and Mann and Underwood have nothing to worry about with their jobs.
