As Philadelphia Eagles fans inch closer to a potential A.J. Brown trade, there's always something new coming out that adds drama, but how real is the buzz?
Most people believe that Brown will be traded to the New England Patriots after June 1, when the Eagles' dead cap for him will be cut in half, saving them $7 million against the salary cap. Well, that might no longer be the case....at least for the time being.
NFL insider Jason La Canfora reported that the Eagles might have more than just the Patriots interested in Brown, as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers could be interested. La Canfora also added that an NFL executive included the Jacksonville Jaguars as a potential fit for Brown.
Could other teams be interested in A.J. Brown, other than the Patriots?
There are likely other teams that would want to bring in Brown, as he is considered one of the NFL's top receivers. Are they calling about him, though? Probably not.
If anything, this is probably nothing more than a smoke screen to keep everyone off balance and add to the drama. It could also be Eagles general manager Howie Roseman trying to raise the price on Brown with other teams that are "interested."
In reality, though, the Eagles and Patriots probably already have a gentlemen's agreement in place to send Brown to Massachusetts for at least a first-round pick. The real question is who else will be involved in the trade.
ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler believes it could be just a 2028 first-round pick, with the potential to swap mid-round draft picks. Adding a player to the deal doesn't seem likely, since the Eagles really don't need much beyond an edge rusher or a safety.
