Former NFL player and now analyst Ross Tucker talked with 94WIP about what he thinks Howie Roseman should do at the trade deadline to improve the Eagles' defense.
"The answer is a corner. And I'll tell you why. I know a lot of people are saying edge. They just signed Brandon Graham. They're going to get Nolan Smith back. And because of the way Nakobe Dean played as an off the ball backer they're going to be able to put Campbell out there on the edge more. {...} The bigger issue is they're going to continue to pick on the corner opposite Quinyon Mitchell. I know Cooper's been playing outside a little bit more. And also, Mukuba has kind of been up and down. So there's a chance they would even want to put Cooper at safety in base more. I really think if they could get what they feel like is an upgrade at corner, that that would be more pressing than edge rusher."
Eagles have some work to do in the secondary
The Eagles have struggled mightily across the field from Mitchell and have turned to Kelee Ringo or Adoree' Jackson to fill the void while Jakorian Bennett works his way back from injury. While the Eagles' pass rush has been less than optimal, a strong presence in the middle with Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo has helped generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
The Eagles also have a bit more promise at the EDGE position, with Nolan Smith set to return, along with the newly signed/unretired Brandon Graham (though not active in Week 8). The Eagles also have Azeez Ojulari, who is dealing with an injury, and could look to him for relief if needed.
In addition to the players mentioned above, there is also the possibility of utilizing Jihaad Campbell off the EDGE. At the same time, Nakobe Dean works his way back into a larger role on defense. While the Eagles' pass rush hasn't been optimal, it hasn't been their biggest area of concern.

With the trade deadline on November 4, Howie Roseman has time to figure out a solution for the most glaring part of his defense. With the Eagles having to shift their secondary, a welcomed addition like Michael Carter II — or a player of his caliber — could be the difference in another championship push in Philadelphia.
