NFL analyst just unleashed fury on Eagles' embarrassing loss (and he's right)

The Philadelphia Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champions, which means they play in many national games. Unfortunately, that means all of the Eagles’ mess unfolds with the entire league watching. That’s precisely what happened on Friday, when Philadelphia lost to the Chicago Bears 24-15. The Eagles didn’t just lose, they were embarrassed — even if it was only a nine-point difference.

NFL analyst Kyle Brandt detailed that on Good Morning Football. Brandt explained that Chicago dominated Philadelphia to the point that the Bears looked like the defending champs, while Philly looked like the young team people have been analyzing to see if it is really a contender.

Eagles defense under scrutiny after being dominated by Bears

Brandt’s monologue was about praising the Bears for being serious contenders. His goal wasn’t to disparage Philadelphia, but by detailing how Chicago ran “through the teeth of that Howie Roseman war chest of defense,” the Eagles were embarrassed. However, the defense only has itself to blame, not anyone who’s pointing out what happened on the field.

It was the Eagles' defense that allowed the Bears to rush for 281 yards. Philadelphia gave up six yards per carry in a standalone holiday game when everyone was watching. It was the Eagles who allowed Chicago to use them to make a statement. Philadelphia should be embarrassed, and the team should be determined to make sure something like that never happens again.

For as rough as things have been in the last two weeks, the Eagles are still 8-4 and sitting atop the NFC East. While that gives the team room to stumble, Philadelphia clearly has some issues it needs to address to contend this season. With five games left in the regular season, the Eagles need to fix these problems fast, or they’ll have a quick exit in the playoffs.

Philadelphia will end the season with games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, Washington Commanders (twice), and the Buffalo Bills. The Eagles should be able to pick up enough wins to secure the division title, but it’s about more than wins and losses right now.

Philadelphia needs to look better on both sides of the ball, or the postseason will be cruel to the franchise.
