That sounds about right...

The Philadelphia Eagles have some major decisions to figure out during the 2026 offseason, but nothing is as big as what to do about star wide receiver A.J. Brown: trading him or keeping him.

Brown has not been happy in Philly for a while, as shown last season by cryptic tweets and telling streamers to bench him in fantasy football. With the trade rumors running wild for the Eagles, ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler spoke with sources around the league, and the rest of the NFL expects Philly to do what fans also know is coming.

"Well, some people I've talked to around the league, some executives of other teams, do expect the Eagles will at least entertain a trade for A.J. Brown, who was unhappy on numerous fronts. I mean, name the counts where he looked like he was miserable out there, body language wasn't good, so something has to give that's sort of the feeling right now."

League executives expect Eagles to entertain A.J. Brown trade offers

This isn't too much of a surprise, as Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is always open to a conversation, but the price has to be right. That is the biggest concern for the Eagles when thinking about whether getting rid of Brown is the best move for the franchise.

The compensation for Brown has to be good, with many believing his asking price could be dropped to a second-round pick, which most Eagles fans are not okay with, as they want a first-round pick. If the Eagles are going to trade away their top offensive weapon, they need the right compensation to make it happen.

Another aspect that everyone continues to ignore is the financial part for the Eagles. They will take a massive loss with trading away Brown, so is it worth it when Philly has so much money they need to save up for to potentially re-sign top players like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Cooper DeJean, and Quinyon Mitchell in the near future?

Everyone is making this decision out to be simple, but financially, it is complicated. Roseman will always take calls, and he should for Brown, but it has to make sense for the Eagles financially and in terms of draft pick compensation.
