Philadelphia Eagles fans know all too well that sports radio in the city can sometimes have the craziest takes and arguments they have ever heard on the air, but one is truly out there.
Maybe it's to grab ratings, or, like most Eagles fans, emotions get in the way and cloud everyone's judgment. The crew at SportsRadio 94 WIP is having their judgment week on all things Eagles, and one question came up: which side the hosts are taking between Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown, who have had issues with their working relationship as Hurts struggles to get Brown the ball consistently. Spike Eskin shared that if Hurts and Brown can't fix their relationship, he would take Brown over Hurts and trade the franchise quarterback.
“I'm more confident I can replace what Jalen (Hurts) brings than what A.J. (Brown) brings. And I’d get more for Jalen — maybe a couple first-round picks — which sets up the future for the new OC.”
Philly radio host takes A.J. Brown over Jalen Hurts
Eskin has a reputation that has made him a polarizing figure in Philly sports talk, as he has his feelings on the Eagles and takes it up a notch. Most Eagles fans will just ignore what he said, and in this instance, this is not even a real debate that should have taken place in the first place.
Hurts has won over 69% of his starts, and while he may not be in the top five among quarterbacks, he's a winner who can hurt defenses with his legs. How many quarterbacks can win the way he does?
The only thing Eskin is technically right about is that Hurts has more trade value than Brown, but what he fails to mention is what the Eagles would do at quarterback if they trade Hurts? McKee proved that while he's a solid backup in the NFL, he's not ready to start, and the free agent market is rough for quarterbacks, with few options.
At least with Brown, the Eagles can get a good pick from him and can find his replacement right away with DeVonta Smith, since he's technically been the WR1 on the team already. Philly would have to find a WR2 in free agency or, most likely, the draft.

It's so hard to find a good quarterback, so to say to trade Hurts without a clear backup plan is insane. Eagles fans would rather have both Brown and Hurts in Philly since that has worked out well in the win column, so let's try to stick with that.
