As the Philadelphia Eagles prepare to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, the focus is of course on the game itself.
But, it is hard not to look ahead when 30 other NFL teams are doing so. The offseason is quickly approaching, and that means players and coaches will come and go in some capacity. For the Eagles, a big name might be set to leave their coaching staff.
Recently, the New Orleans Saints were looked at as a top landing spot for former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy. After several dominoes fell, though, McCarthy ended up pulling out of the conversation for that job.
With McCarthy having opted out of the Saints' job, that leaves one primary candidate in Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. He's already been a rumored candidate for other jobs during this cycle. And, the potential of Moore in New Orleans is growing stronger and stronger, it seems.
The latest report from ESPN's Adam Schefter:
"Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has emerged as a lead candidate to fill the New Orleans vacancy."
Adam Schefter isn't the only NFL insider who thinks Kellen Moore is going to New Orleans
As if one major insider putting his name on this idea wasn't enough, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport doubled-down on that report when he spoke live on the air Thrusday morning.
"Kellen Moore has done exceptionally well in this process ... to me, just kind of reading the tea leaves here, it does seem like Kellen Moore is in a very strong position with the Saints," Rapoport said.
More Eagles news:
With the other vacancies having been filled and now seeing those staffs also being constructed, the Saints are behind in the process. But, if Moore is their guy, then they will have to wait until after the Super Bowl, of course.
If New Orleans does hire Moore, this also puts other Eagles assistants in position to leave Philly as well. That could be a tough spot for the Eagles, as so many other top assistants have already been promoted and/or hired during this cycle.
With Moore having familiarity with the Eagles staff, it would not be surprising to see him bring a few coaches with him if he took this job with the Saints.
For now, what better way than to leave Philadelphia as a world champion? Again, it's difficult to focus on the present with other opportunities lingering. But, Moore and the Eagles have a tall task ahead as they prepare for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
