NFL insider delivers bold Eagles prediction that would put Jalen Hurts on notice

While Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been known for building a quarterback factory every year, many wonder if he is done creating the 2026 version.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is the clear-cut starter, but there are still many questions to answer behind him, though. Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee are battling for the QB2 job while rookie fifth-round pick Cole Payton is developing for the next two years.

There may be four quarterbacks, but the Eagles are never shy about looking at other potential great options if they are available. Roseman might be considering a whole different option, which would be him thinking outside the box.

Jalen Hurts might be in trouble in the future with this bold prediction

FanSided NFL insider Jason La Canfora believes the Eagles could make a move during the summer that no one would have thought they would at the beginning of the offseason. Canfora's bold prediction is that the Eagles will use a second-round supplemental pick on quarterback Brendan Sorsby.

"There are some serious concerns about Sorsby’s gambling problem, especially as it was revealed how frequently he placed bets on Indiana games while on that team. But two GMs told me they think he’s grabbed in the supplemental draft if he is deemed eligible. Both are under the impression that the Eagles have done a lot of work on him, and they believe this very much could be Jalen Hurts’ final season as the starter there.

'I think Howie grabs him in the second round,' one GM said. 'He’s getting a one for (receiver A.J.) Brown. I don’t think he’s scared to do it, and the stuff you hear about them being willing to move off of Hurts, that's real.' Good enough for me."

Sorsby was just denied by the NCAA on his appeal to come back and play college football at Texas Tech after his gambling violations came out. It appears that Sorsby's only option now is to join the NFL.

That's where the Eagles could be an interesting option, as Sorsby was looking at being projected as a first-round pick in next year's NFL Draft. He appears to have all the physical abilities to play the quarterback position, but the gambling problem is a tough pill for any NFL team to swallow.

It wouldn't be the first time the Eagles have dealt with a player who got in trouble for gambling. Former Eagles cornerback Isaiah Rodgers was suspended for one year for gambling, but the Eagles still signed him in 2023, and then he was reinstated in 2024, helping the Eagles win the Super Bowl.

The problem with a move like this is that it could jeopardize Hurts's chances of staying on the roster beyond 2026 if the Eagles believe Sorsby is the future. Many believe Hurts is on the hot seat and must prove he can still be the team's starter.

It's a crazy thought to think about, but if Sorsby comes to the Eagles, Hurts might be in for a long 2026 season.
