Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis was one of the feel-good stories on the team last year after his transformation from an average defender to near Pro Bowl status.

Davis got every Eagles fan's attention when he said he lost 26 pounds last offseason, leading to the best season of his career. That landed him the biggest contract extension for a nose tackle in NFL history this offseason as the Eagles rewarded him with a three-year, $78 million contract and $65 million guaranteed, coming out to $26 million per year.

Well, it appears that Davis might only be getting better once again. During OTAs this week, the Eagles shared a series of clips from practice showing them getting to Davis and seeing him swim through tackling dummies with speed the fan base has not seen from him before.

Jordan Davis is only getting better at OTAs, and it could lead to a historic 2026 season

Last year, Davis had career-highs in tackles (72), quarterback hits (six), pass deflections (six), tackles for loss (five), and sacks (4.5). He also had key special teams moments that included a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown in the Eagles' Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams, which landed him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Davis's weight loss really paid off, as everyone could notice he was faster and had better endurance on the field. He took 61% of the defensive snaps last year on the line, the most he has done in his four-year NFL career, with his previous highest being just 45%.

It's become clear that Davis is not only a fan favorite, but is becoming more of a leader in that locker room. Many Eagles fans are expecting him to potentially be the next captain of the team to replace A.J. Brown's spot after he was traded to the New England Patriots.

There were a lot of questions about Davis's future with the Eagles entering the 2025 season, but now, going into this year, it's all about what kind of leap he can take.
