Despite the constant concerns about the Philadelphia Eagles' offensive line, one thing is clear: everyone loves their starting offensive tackles, Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.

For years, Mailata and Johnson have been considered two of the best tackles in the NFL. This offseason, Sports Illustrated ranked them in the top five tackle duos entering 2026.

There are more questions about Johnson, as he is coming off a bad foot injury that sidelined him for the last two months of the 2025 season, but Mailata continues to get praised even though he has never been selected to the Pro Bowl. As individuals, though, how do they stack up against the rest of the league?

NFL personnel share their feelings about Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson

ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler keeps rolling on with the positional survey he has been running over the last week, with the focus this time on offensive tackles. According to league coaches, executives, and scouts, Mailata is the top-ranked Eagles tackle, as he made the list at four, with someone giving him as high as a number-one ranking.

"He was the best tackle in the NFL by far [in 2024]," said a personnel executive with an NFL team. "He regressed some last year. But that wasn't all his fault."

"He does everything consistently well," one NFL coordinator said about Mailata. "That's rare."

Mailata always seems to get the respect he deserves from everyone, but never gets reconized for it at the end of the season with a Pro Bowl or All-Pro selection. In 2024, he did get a second-team All-Pro selection, but never on the first-team.

Last year, Pro Football Focus graded him as the 10th-best offensive tackle in the NFL with an 83.4. He allowed 27 pressures, four quarterback hits, and two sacks in 564 pass-blocking snaps, while being called for four penalties.

Don't worry, Eagles fans, because Johnson did make the top-10 as well, with NFL personnel ranking him seventh.

"I know they had a tough year as an offense, but the play was still elite," a veteran NFL defensive coach said about Johnson. "He's a guy you can trust more than just about any other tackle to play at a high level. I just don't know if the body will hold up at this stage."

In 2025, Johnson allowed just seven pressures and never allowed a quarterback hit or sack in 262 snaps. He has been a Pro Bowler six times, adding three second-team All-Pro and two first-team All-Pro selections to his resume.

Even with all the concerns about the Eagles, everyone still has to give love to Mailata and Johnson for the careers they have put together. There is no denying how great both are at their positions.
