Eagles might be contenders (but who is considered better than them will sting)

Not them....

Despite all the changes made to the Philadelphia Eagles roster, the 2026 team is shaping up to be one of the most talented in the NFL.

Their defense is stacked with young talent; the Eagles have a deep wide receiver room for quarterback Jalen Hurts, a great running back, and a reliable offensive line. ESPN's Kevin Clark appeared on First Take where he named his top contenders for the Super Bowl in 2026 and the Eagles landed on the list, but another team is considered better than them....a team no Eagles fan wants to see.

"Also have the Eagles there. Last segment I talked about how much respect I have for Jalen Hurts, that entire operation. They're gonna win a bunch of games, even if I have the Cowboys going first there."

Are the Dallas Cowboys better than the Philadelphia Eagles in 2026?

Clark praised the Cowboys despite their losing record and missing the playoffs in 2025. He gave credit to Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer and quarterback Dak Prescott, calling the team "an actual NFC favorite" and predicting they would win the NFC East.

A lot of analysts seem to be on the Cowboys bandwagon this season, but that's always the case. Everyone is excited about Dallas because of Prescott and their offense, but they end up crumbling at the end of the season because of bad defense, and Prescott puts up a lot of yards and touchdowns in garbage time.

The Eagles, though, have at least been consistent over the last five years under head coach Nick Sirianni. They have been to two Super Bowls, won one, and won the NFC East three times. If there is any team to trust to be a true contender, it should be the Eagles.

Of course, the two big question marks are on offense with new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion and Hurts. Mannion is in his first year as a play-caller after two years of being a coach, while Hurts has faced harsh criticism for his performance last year.

ESPN always loves to talk about the Cowboys, and even Clark admitted as much on the air, so it's no surprise they are in the conversation. Just like it won't be a surprise when they fall apart at the end of 2026, and the Eagles win the NFC East for the third straight season.
