Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is busy trying to get all his rookies under contract before minicamp begins, but there's another lingering roster move that needs discussion.

Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame went through each NFC team to name the biggest roster decision for them going into OTAs and minicamp. Of course, for the Eagles, it's the one topic everyone hates talking about, but we are doing it anyway: "When will A.J. Brown be traded, and what assets will he bring back?"

"Assuming the long-held belief that Brown will be dealt, there are two questions: Where is he going? What’s the trade compensation? Looking at the situation, Brown will turn 29 in June. He’s signed through 2029 at base salaries of $1.3 million for the next two years, and then $1.4 million in the final two seasons of the deal. For the acquiring team, his cap hits are $23.4 million in 2026, $22.7 million in ’27, $27.5 million in ’28 and $29.3 million in ’29. Brown also has $33 million in guaranteed salary over the next two seasons. Still, Brown is a difference-maker in his 20s and locked up long-term. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is one of the league’s best, as evidenced by his two rings, and he’ll be looking for plenty in a return.

Bottom line: Comparisons would say Brown is worth at least first- and third-round picks, and likely more."

So what are the answers to the A.J. Brown questions?

Eagles fans know that Brown will most likely be traded to the New England Patriots after June 1 to help the team with its finances. Trading Brown after that date will cut the dead cap in half and save them $7 million against the salary cap.

General manager Howie Roseman has been seeking a first-round pick at a minimum for Brown, along with possibly another draft pick to add to it. There have been talks about adding another player, but the Eagles really don't need anyone else besides depth at edge rusher and a starting safety, which the Patriots don't have.

There's really nothing much more to add to the story that continues to dominate the NFL news cycle, as Brown will be traded at some point, but patience is needed. Once fans know what the Eagles will get for him, though, it will be more of a relief than anything.
