Nick Sirianni addresses Kevin Patullo's promotion and Eagles' tush push controversy

Well, you had to know Nick Sirianni would be asked about this the first time he stepped in front of a microphone.

Is it time to talk about the NFL Combine already? It appears that's exactly the case. Time off is minimal when you're the defending and reigning NFC Champions. If it feels like the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl just a tad over two weeks ago, it's because that's exactly the case. Philly indeed won the Lombardi Trophy just a tad over two weeks ago.

We're still buzzing. There's no point in lying. It was an emotional and fantastic 2024-25 season. We especially loved the ending, but it's time to go to work again.

February brought football's biggest game and another Senior Bowl. It ends with the NFL Combine, and that will carry us into the first two days of March. Where do we begin? How about a few press conferences?

Nick Sirianni's NFL Combine press conference is highlighted by a discussion about Kevin Patullo's promotion and the always-controversial 'tush push'.

Here's some honesty. We hate the term 'tush push' almost as much as Jalen Hurts does. We kind of like 'Brotherly Shove' even though that isn't the play's name either.

How about 'quarterback sneak'? That works, right? Whatever you want to call it, for the third consecutive season, it's under the microscope.

The Green Bay Packers tried to send a proposal that the NFL ban its usage and do so anonymously. Wow! That was cowardly. They were found to be the perpetrators. Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons coaches Sean McDermott and Raheem Morris expressed their support of a ban.

Okay, serious question... Who gives a damn what McDermott and Morris want? Shouldn't they be focused on trying not to get fired?

Anyway, we digress. Nick Sirianni spoke with the media in Indianapolis at the scouting combine. How about we discuss that? here's what he said about the feedback about Philly's now-infamous short-yardage play.

Nick also stated he's protective of the play because Philly does a good job with it and that he's confident the competition committee will do a good job of taking everything worth measuring into account while making their decision on whether or not to ban the play.

Meanwhile, another of the highlights of his discussion with the media came when he was asked about Kevin Patullo's promotion to offensive coordinator. Here's what he stated about the process.

No one heard of another interview. Nick's comment suggests that there were others, but Philly often keeps things close to the vest as they have done in this case. We have yet to hear who was a guest for those interviews.

On-field workouts begin on Thursday at 3 p.m. EST. defensive linemen and linebackers begin the festivities, and there will certainly be some prospects working out that the Birds will want to note.

Oh, and by the way... We were wondering the same thing that some of you were. Yes... Kevin Patullo will handle play-calling duties for the Philadelphia Eagles on offense next season.
