Nick Sirianni makes awkward last-ditch pitch to keep Kellen Moore after SB win

The Eagles are celebrating their massive win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, and that should remain the focus for the foreseeable future, as long as the people of Philadelphia stay safe when they take the streets to celebrate.

However, there is at least one aspect of the game that can't be brushed over, and that is what head coach Nick Sirianni was caught saying on stage when the team accepted the Lombardi Trophy. Usually, this wouldn't be a concern, but given the current rumor regarding the coach he was speaking to, it's not something that can be ignored.

In a clip posted by NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Sirianni says, "Let's run this sh** back" to offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. It makes sense that you would want to keep your coaches on your staff after winning the Super Bowl, but the latest rumor surrounding Moore suggests he's already on his way out of the organization, even before Sunday's game.

Nick Sirianni could try to convince Kellen Moore not to leave the Eagles this offseason

Earlier in the day, Schultz reported that Moore was set to become the New Orleans Saints' next head coach, filling the final vacancy of this offseason. He has long been considered a top head coaching candidate, and it looks like he will finally have the chance to further his career in the NFC South.

It makes sense, given how impactful he has been as a coordinator for the past several years, but it's possible that a Super Bowl win might change his mind or some convincing from Sirianni.

It really depends on what Moore hopes to do with his career. Some coordinators don't want to move up the ladder and are good with remaining in their positions for their careers. Some think they want to be head coaches, try it, and fail, like the Patriots' longtime play-caller Josh McDaniels. Moore will either decide it's better to try and fail than not try at all or hold off for at least one more season to find a head coaching gig somewhere else since it's not expected the interest in him will suffer whatsoever.

It certainly won't be an easy choice, given the excitement of winning a Championship and having to turn around almost immediately to decide the future of your career, which is why this moment was incredibly awkward to see.

Hopefully, if Moore does leave, the Eagles will find a solid replacement for the 2025 season, whether promoting someone already on the staff or hiring someone else. They've already missed out on several potential candidates because of the hiring cycle that already took place, so it would probably be best if Moore just stayed.

But we'll have to wait and see. Until then, it's time to celebrate being Super Bowl Champions!
