Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles are on a three-game losing streak. And yes, it appears as though panic may be setting in amongst the fan base.
But even though the Eagles continue to trend in the wrong direction, there are some massive positives to take away from all the negatives. One of those happens to be the play of second-year cornerback Cooper DeJean.
After the Eagles' latest loss to the Chargers, head coach Nick Sirianni had nothing but excellent things to say about the 2024 second-round pick.
"He's a special athlete...The guy loves sports. The guy loves football. That's what you love. He comes to work he's the same guy every single day. His consistency is awesome. He's a very talented player. I hope he gets everything that's coming to him as far as the accolades and everything like that. And, you know, and he always helps us win football games."
Cooper DeJean has been a bright spot during the Eagles' woeful stretch
If he continues to play like this, the sky is truly the limit for a guy who hasn't even played two full seasons yet. In terms of accolades, DeJean should be well on his way to many of those, as Sirianni alluded to.
In 13 games this year, DeJean has 12 pass breakups and an interception. He's also got a forced fumble and four tackles for loss, showing he is capable of elite play all over the field.
Depending on whether you want to trust Pro Football Focus or not, they can sometimes be a good gauge in key areas. For example, DeJean has the eighth-highest coverage grade of all qualifying cornerbacks in 2025. Eagles fans may even be right to think he deserves to be higher, especially after a recent showing.
There was one play in particular on Monday night when DeJean captured everyone's attention. On a deeper route by Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey, DeJean played it as perfectly as you could.
He stayed with McConkey, as close as he possibly could without warranting a penalty, turned his body multiple times, and came up with the pass deflection in the end. It was one of the prettiest coverage snaps we have seen out of any player this season.

It's players like him who will continue to instill faith in a fan base that is frustrated mainly. DeJean is just one of many top-tier talents on this roster, and once this team figures it out offensively, the Eagles will only return to being as dangerous as any team in the league.
