Former CBS Sports writer Jeff Kerr brought up a haunting statistic that encapsulates the Philadelphia Eagles' story in 2025.
Per Kerr, as the Eagles walked off the field in their 23-19 NFC Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the offense finished a season in which they averaged 9.5 offensive PPG in the second half.
Against San Francisco, Philadelphia led 13-10 at halftime but ultimately lost, which ended their 2025 season. The Eagles managed an anemic six points under the leadership of offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Eagles' loss to the 49ers perfectly sums up 2025 season
The 2025 Philadelphia Eagles offense has been a tirade of dysfunction that no one has honestly gotten to the bottom of. One week it's Patullo, one week it's Nick Sirianni, then Hurts, then Saquon Barkley, then A.J. Brown, and so on.
The team has continued to deal with dysfunction, which is leveraged by an inept offensive coordinator, underachieving skill players, a hurt offensive line, and a quarterback who holds probably the most leverage in the building due to a massive contract, along with a pseudo-stoic attitude.
With the Eagles' season over, the team will most likely conduct a post-season analysis (or autopsy) of what went wrong during the 2025 campaign. While the Eagles' inability to score points has caught plenty of attention, they also made headlines several times this season for their inability to move the ball through the air in the second half.
The Eagles won two games this season despite their franchise quarterback failing to complete a pass in the second half. They still won both games. This rare "feat" has happened twice: Hurts went zero-for-eight for zero yards in Week 4 and zero-for-seven in Week 17, both of which ended in Eagles victories.

With the Eagles rostering one of the NFL's more talented rosters, a first-round exit is unacceptable and should be addressed to change the culture in the building.
