One defining moment created by Nick Sirianni led to Eagles' collapse vs. Cowboys

Unbelievable decision.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys game started just like most Eagles games have this year, with a multi-score lead, just to see an epic collapse from Philly to blow a 21-point lead to lose to the Dallas Cowboys 24-21 in Week 12.

It's a story Eagles fans have seen too often, where Philly can't play a full four quarters. The offense was non-existent in the second half, and the defense let the Cowboys do whatever they wanted.

Despite the multiple turnovers in the fourth quarter, there was one moment in the game that triggered the comeback to be out of control. It was all caused by the man who had struggled with decision-making in the fourth quarter: Nick Sirianni.

Sirianni's one decision flipped this game on its head

In the fourth quarter, with over 13 minutes left, the Eagles were facing a fourth and five at the Cowboys 38 38-yard line. A place where it seems like, with a seven-point lead, it would make sense for Sirianni to go for it and get aggressive like he has in the past.

Nope, he sent kicker Jake Elliott out, the same guy who went one of seven from 50+ yards out in 2024, to attempt a 56-yard field goal. Of course, he misses, and the Cowboys take advantage of the short field to go 54 yards on three plays to score the game-tying touchdown.

That triggered the Eagles to fumble twice and allow Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey to hit the game-winning field goal as time expired. One moment lost it for the Eagles.

It perfectly captures the season for the Eagles, as it has been Sirianni for the third straight week, mismanaging the game with bad decisions. He almost cost the Eagles at the end of the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions games with bad fourth-down decisions. Sirianni did it again against the Cowboys.

While Eagles fans shouldn't completely turn on Sirianni, some questions need to be asked about whether he can handle late-game moments, because the 2025 season shows he can't. He'd better not get frustrated by the media when they question him on it.
