Philadelphia Eagles training camp is going to be one of the most competitive in a long time, thanks to the talent on the roster.
Even with how deep the roster is, there are still holes to be filled. The Eagles have concerns about the depth of the offensive line, at safety, and, for some in the media, at edge rusher.
This could lead to Eagles general manager Howie Roseman doing what he does best and finding a hidden talent that can unlock their Super Bowl potential. Roseman might already have a choice in free agency that can help with that.
Eagles should take a chance with safety Donovan Wilson
Wilson was a former sixth-round pick of the dreaded Dallas Cowboys back in 2019, but has put together a nice career. In 98 games, he has racked up 444 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 19 pass deflections, 13 sacks, nine forced fumbles, eight interceptions, and six fumble recoveries.
He is at his best when he can play up to the line to help in run support. Wilson is also very good at being a playmaker and creating turnovers.
The Eagles' defense, despite having a strong second half of the 2025 season, struggled to force turnovers for the offense. Wilson could fill in and help with that.
Philly is currently having to start Andrew Mukuba and Marcus Epps. While Epps was solid in Mukuba's place last year, the Eagles could find somebody who would be better suited as a 17-game starter.
Wilson had been a full-time starter for the Cowboys, so the experience is there with him. He can be versatile and move around on defense, which is a good trait for a Vic Fangio-led unit to have at safety.

The Eagles seem content for now at safety, if Roseman is not one to mess around if there is a problem at hand. He will make a quick move to fix it, and Wilson could be that insurance policy if Epps is not getting the job done.
