Talk about a power trio with the Philadelphia Eagles.

With the splash addition of dynamic free agent Riq Woolen, the new look threesome at the corner position for the Philadelphia Eagles is simply unrivaled. Per Next Gen Stats, the newest member of the Eagles secondary edges out only teammate Quinyon Mitchell in a crucial statistic, with the new pair of outside cornerbacks perched atop the standings for corners leaguewide:

"Riq Woolen allowed just 0.5 yards per coverage snap in man coverage last season, the fewest among outside cornerbacks.

Woolen also forced a 31.3% completion rate playing man in 2025, the lowest among players at his position."

Meanwhile, Mitchell produced a remarkable all-pro campaign in 2025, finishing tied for second with San Francisco's Deommodore Lenoir in fewest yards per coverage snap for all outside cornerbacks in man coverage this past season.

And wreaking absolute havoc from his slot spot, fellow All-Pro Cooper DeJean is equally decorated in all things Next Gen Stats, as the second-year standout has surrendered the second-lowest completion percentage among all slot cornerbacks (60.6%) - all while not allowing a touchdown spanning 612 snaps in coverage.

Adding Woolen to the mix with such a star-studded duo of Mitchell and DeJean as running mates figures to give opposing quarterbacks - and wideouts - nightmares. At the same time, a pressing issue remains to be addressed from a secondary perspective.

With the corner position firmly locked down in Philly, general manager Howie Roseman has to have his sights set on that open safety spot amid the departure of Reed Blankenship. There are several gifted prospects who showed out at the combine, including South Carolina standout Jalon Kilgore, even in the day two discussion.

As the opening days of free agency have unfolded, the market for talented veteran safeties is already shrinking, making the potential addition of safety help in the draft a likely scenario for Roseman and company.
